The annual essay competition, which is a product of the UBA Foundation’s Read Africa Initiative, is designed to develop the intellectual and writing abilities of the Senior Secondary schools’ students in Nigeria. The overall winner would get an educational grant of N1million, the first and second runners-up will get N750,000 and N500,000 respectively.
While calling on the Senior Secondary School students to avail themselves of the opportunity, Ijeoma Aso, the Foundation’s chief executive added that any of the winners would be given the opportunity of the financial support, not only in the nation’s higher institution, but any higher institutions of their choice in Africa.
The competition is open to every Nigerian secondary school students to submit their handwritten essays which should not be more than 750 words before the closing date of November 13, 2015
Read Africa Project is an initiative of UBA Foundation (UBAF) and was created in 2011. Her primary objectives is rekindling and resuscitating the dwindling reading culture amongst African youths by the provision of recommended English literatures for junior and senior secondary schools students across Africa continent.
